To better clarify our foundation’s goals for the years 2011 – 2012, the AF Board identified several areas of need in the local community that we hope to bring more attention to through increased partnerships and funding in the next 2 years.  We view this as a mere “start” … a truly dynamic process that will bring more targeted focus to all we do and allow for greater understanding of AF’s community impact as it has evolved over the past two decades.

We look forward to reporting in greater detail as our actions and accomplishments continue to unfold.  We are well underway in making progress in several of these initiatives in the current year.  It is exciting to watch each one take on a new vitality that has inspired both long-term donors as well as ones new to The Adam Foundation.

We strive to not only increase awareness, but to have true impact in these areas by encouraging more community projects that address these needs – more projects that AF may help to fund.  Our initiatives not only proudly honor our long-term legacy (HIV & AIDS related needs), but also expand our reach of potential help in issues that an LGBT individual or specific group may face “from cradle to grave” (school-age bullying to specific issues of the aging LGBT population).

These initiatives are by no means complete in “fixing things”, but we feel they give our foundation targeted focus and specific goals. The AF Initiative list provides a solid filter through which to attract & evaluate new grant applicants; it allows us to challenge the Winston Salem community to open its creative abilities to tackle specific needs.  We hope you will agree and find an initiative that speaks to you or your organization as “important”…. worth the effort of your time or your donations.
