Come Visit our AF booth at the 2011 Equality NC Conference in Greensboro on Saturday November 12th!
Equality NC is a statewide group dedicated to securing equal rights and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. We work toward that goal by effectively lobbying the North Carolina General Assembly, executive branch, and local governments on issues like inclusive anti-bullying policies, employment discrimination, hate violence, privacy rights, sexuality education, adoption, domestic partnership, HIV/AIDS, and more. We also work to engage North Carolinians with educational programming and outreach efforts.
Equality NC refers to three connected nonprofit corporations:
- Equality NC - Our parent organization, which conducts our lobbying and advocacy efforts.
- Equality NC PAC - Our political action committee, which works to elect fair-minded candidates.
- Equality NC Foundation - Our organization that provides educational programming on LGBT issues and conducts campaigns to build public support for equal rights. THIS IS THE CORPORATION TOWHICH AF HAS AWARDED A GRANT.
UPDATE: Equality NC Annual Conference - Saturday, November 12, 2011
AF President Carol Hayes and Board Member Jamie Huss traveled to Greensboro to staff the new AF display which was being shown for the first time at Equality NC's Statewide conference in the history of AF. For several years, AF has given a grant to the ENC Foundation to support the educational programs given at the conference. There were over 400 people registered for the day; that was almost a third more than last year. The speakers were engaging. And the energy of the commitment to fairess and equality by attendees was palpable. We were thilled to have a physical presence there this year. We spoke with many people from ENC as well as attendees who stopped by our AF table. AF had a prominently placed ad in the Conference Program. And, the AF Able and Focused logo- representing the work of all AF supporters - was prominently displayed on a large screen throughout the luncheon and panel discussion.
