We want to further educate the public about AF in every way possible.
That includes breaking up some myths ....certainly some "old news" .... about AF.
This section will continue to expand, so check back frequently.
And help us out - if you hear someone still passing out info that "just ain't true",
tell them they need to catch up!
Send them to the AF website or be sure we meet them at the next AF event.

MYTH #1    "ADAM IS ONLY FOR & ABOUT THE GUYS !"

Why do we lead off with a photo of an active female?

Because a major myth about The Adam Foundation is one intimately linked to our name.
We do NOT only have men as partners, sponsors, grant recipients, volunteers, and leaders.
The number of women ACTIVE in ALL areas of The Adam Foundation is a strong indicator
that the work and mission of the foundation covers a broad spectrum of issues, activities,
projects, and concerns that matter to all people - females included.
In fact,  3 of our last 4 Board Presidents are women who cared enough to serve in a leadership position.
Our current 2012 President - Crystal Simmons - is equally dedicated.

So, while the men led the way in initially forming the foundation,
The Adam Foundation has truly become a diverse group.
We are grateful for all the hard work, dedication, and financial support
that our local women - both lesbians and straight allies -  contribute each year.

In fact, in 2010 a "Women's Party" fundraiser organized by Leigh Foster and Betsey Zook raised over $4,500 in one fun afternoon pool party totally focused on the gals of AF.
It was a great event that brought many different women together.
Could be a challenge to the men brewing for this year!

MYTH #2     "AF IS 'ONLY' ABOUT HIV & AIDS"

MYTH #3  "ALL ADAM DOES IS ONE BIG PARTY A YEAR - THE ADAM FESTIVAL"

MYTH #4  "AF MUST BE NEW.  I'VE NEVER HEARD OF IT!"

MYTH #5    "ADAM MUST NOT CARE ABOUT  'SERIOUS'  LGBT ISSUES.
BOARD MEMBERS DO NOT SPEAK TO LEGISLATORS ; YOU HAVE NOT ORGANIZED A GAY PRIDE PARADE"
